As Thailand’s aviation and tourism sectors enter a transformative new era, Dr. Worakanya Siripidej, CEO of Siam Seaplane, is helping shape their future by proving that leadership requires no runway. Operating at the intersection of technical innovation, national infrastructure, and gender equity, she sets a modern standard for forward-thinking leadership across the tourism and aviation industries.
Dr. Worakanya’s leadership extends beyond aviation operations and tourism development. She is also an advocate for greater opportunities and representation for women in the aviation industry. As a member of the Women in Aviation International (WAI) Thailand Chapter Advisory Board, she supports initiatives focused on gender diversity, professional development, and leadership within aviation.

Recently, Dr. Worakanya spoke at the WAI Thailand Chapter during its inauguration event on “No Runway Required: How Thailand’s Seaplane Pioneers Are Redefining Aviation Leadership.” Her session demonstrated that true leadership requires navigating uncharted territory and persevering through unforeseen challenges. This resilience drives innovation forward, showing how non-traditional aviation, such as seaplanes, can expand regional connectivity, support sustainable high-value travel, and unlock new possibilities for the future of the industry
She also shared her perspective on leadership and the importance of creating spaces where women can develop their expertise, build confidence, and pursue opportunities in an industry that has traditionally been male-dominated. Dr. Worakanya believes that the future of aviation should be shaped by diverse perspectives and new ideas. By supporting the next generation of women in aviation, the industry can continue to evolve with stronger technical capabilities, more inclusive leadership, and greater opportunities for innovation.

Her strategic foresight recently earned her a key appointment as part of the committee member of the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s (TAT) working group on air connectivity and tourism competitiveness. Collaborating directly with the Ministry of Transport and key stakeholders, Dr. Worakanya is helping drive Thailand’s shift toward a "Value over Volume" strategy. By leveraging alternative aviation, including seaplanes, private jets, and helicopters, she is shaping policies and infrastructure to enhance regional connectivity, unlock premium travel experiences, and elevate sustainable tourism across the country.

For a country with diverse destinations ranging from islands and coastal communities to remote resorts, alternative aviation can play an important role in making travel more seamless while opening new opportunities for regional connectivity. Her involvement will help inform future discussions around aviation policy, infrastructure, and connectivity, particularly in supporting premium and high-value tourism across Thailand.
From contributing to Thailand’s tourism and air connectivity agenda to supporting women’s advancement in aviation, Dr. Worakanya’s work reflects a broader vision for the industry: connecting people, destinations, and opportunities in new ways.
As Thailand continues to develop its high-value tourism sector, alternative aviation can become an important part of creating more seamless and meaningful travel experiences — while inspiring a new generation of aviation leaders along the way.
