Behind every successful flight is a team dedicated to ensuring safety, precision, and operational excellence. As part of our "Getting to Know Our Team" series, we're taking you behind the scenes to meet one of the people helping shape the future of seaplane aviation in Thailand. At Siam Seaplane, Narawut "Yo" Ngamdee, Flight Operations Manager Deputy & QA, plays a key role in making that happen.

Growing up in an Air Force family with a father who was an aircraft mechanic, Yo developed a fascination with aviation from an early age. "Aviation was practically in my blood. But the true defining moment that led me to seaplanes happened while I was working as a flight instructor in Chumphon. Flying every day and seeing the breathtaking beauty of the Thai ocean from above made me fall in love with marine tourism."
Yo believes seaplanes will transform regional connectivity and tourism in Thailand.
"I see seaplanes revolutionizing the last mile of travel for the country," he says. "Our coastlines and islands are among the most beautiful in the world, yet reaching many of these destinations can be time-consuming and complex. Seaplanes will transform that experience into something truly exceptional, offering a seamless, scenic, and memorable journey from takeoff to water landing, while unlocking access to destinations that were previously difficult to reach."
Yo's aviation journey began at the Royal Thai Air Force Academy, where he graduated with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. He later served as Chief Aircraft Engineer for the Royal Fleet, overseeing the safety of Boeing 737 and Airbus A310 aircraft responsible for transporting members of the Royal Family and Thailand's Prime Ministers. Following his military career, Yo joined the commercial aviation sector during the early years of Thai AirAsia as an Engineering QA Specialist and Licensed Aircraft Engineer. Throughout his career, he has held leadership positions, helped establish MRO facilities, and played a key role in supporting the launch of new airlines through Air Operator Certificate (AOC) certification projects. He ultimately pursued his passion for flying by earning his Commercial Pilot License (CPL) and becoming a flight instructor.
His favorite aviation memory remains his time flying above the Gulf of Thailand as a flight instructor, while his appreciation for aircraft ranges from the Boeing 737 and Airbus A310 to the versatile Cessna Caravan.

Today, Yo describes his role as the "architect of safety." He works behind the scenes to ensure that aviation regulations, operational procedures, and safety standards are effectively implemented across the organization.
"There are two milestones in my career that I hold especially dear. The first was my time maintaining the Royal Fleet, which instilled in me a zero-error mindset and an uncompromising commitment to safety. The second was stepping outside my comfort zone and transitioning from an aerospace engineer and aircraft maintenance professional to earning my Commercial Pilot License and becoming a flight instructor. That journey gave me a 360-degree perspective of the aviation industry and reinforced the importance of safety at every stage of flight operations," Yo says.
Outside of work, Yo enjoys camping, listening to music in nature, and keeping up with global news and current events. "Camping is my favorite way to recharge. There's something special about disconnecting from the busy world, setting up a tent in nature, and simply relaxing with good music. It gives me the chance to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with what matters most."

When we asked Yo what three words his colleagues would use to describe him, he didn't hesitate:
"Versatile, Disciplined, and Safety-Driven."
Simple words, yet they reflect the qualities that define his approach to operational excellence, and unwavering commitment to safety. These values will continue to guide his contribution to Siam Seaplane's vision for the future of aviation in Thailand.
