Exploring Krabi

November 13, 2025

Recently, the Siam Seaplane team had the opportunity to visit Krabi and the Phi Phi Islands — two of Thailand’s most iconic destinations. While most travelers might avoid the Andaman coast at this time of year because of the rainy season, our journey had a special purpose: to move one step closer toward launching sustainable seaplane operations in Krabi.

During the visit, our team met with provincial authorities and key stakeholders from the aviation and tourism sectors, including representatives from the Deputy Governor of Krabi, the Provincial Offices of Tourism and Sports, Krabi International Airport, and local administrations. Other participants included officials from public health, natural resources, fisheries, and environmental agencies.

The goal of these meetings was to introduce the concept of seaplane operations, share information about their environmental impact, and explore how this new form of travel could work hand in hand with the local community.

One of the most memorable moments came when Ms. Worakanya Siripidej, CEO of Siam Seaplane, spoke sincerely about the company’s vision:

“Although seaplanes are a new business in Thailand, they are not introduced to compete with existing local businesses or travel providers. On the contrary, Siam Seaplane aims to support local communities by using local services, assisting in medical evacuation, and sharing knowledge.”

Her message resonated deeply with the local authorities and organizations present. It emphasized that Siam Seaplane’s mission goes beyond convenience and luxury — it’s about connection, cooperation, and community benefit.

Mr. Suwit Suriyawong, The Vice Governor of Krabi, warmly welcomed Siam Seaplane’s initiative, noting that while operations must comply with the requirements of related government agencies, he also expressed optimism that seaplane services could elevate Krabi’s tourism and service industries, creating new opportunities and boosting local income in the province.

After the productive series of meetings, our team took a moment to enjoy Krabi from another perspective — that of a traveller. We visited Koh Phi Phi to inspect the proposed area for the Water Landing Site and to better understand the local environment and way of life.

The trip was an inspiring success. We were warmly welcomed not only by the authorities but also by the local residents, whose friendliness and cooperation reinforced our belief that this project will bring real value to the region. We gained valuable insights into the process and next steps toward safe, efficient, and sustainable seaplane operations in Krabi.

As we continue working toward making seaplane flights in Krabi a reality, we carry with us the lessons and goodwill from this visit. We truly hope that our proposed seaplane operations will not only bring lasting benefits to the local communities and the country as a whole, but also offer passengers an unforgettable travel experience — where every journey begins not at an airport, but right on the water.
