Thailand’s most joyful and refreshing celebration is here, bringing together tradition, travel, and a splash of fun across the country.

At its heart, Songkran remains Thailand’s most joyful and refreshing celebration. It marks the beginning of the traditional Thai New Year, based on the lunar calendar. Rooted in cultural heritage, it is a time for family reunions, temple visits, and paying respect to elders. Over time, Songkran has also become world-famous for its lively water festivities, turning streets into joyful arenas of celebration.Beyond the fun, water symbolizes cleansing, renewal, and a fresh start for the year ahead.

2026: Record-Breaking Songkran

In Bangkok, Silom Road was once again at the heart of it all, drawing record-breaking crowds of over 650,000 participants across three days from 12–14 April. The celebrations built into full-scale water fights, with water guns everywhere, laughter filling the streets, and a shared energy that carried from morning through to midnight.
