Happy New Year from Siam Seaplane

Thank you for your continuous support over the course of last year. While 2020 was a difficult year for all of us, we kept and keep developing Siam Seaplane's high-standard seaplane service for the Kingdom of Thailand.

This Month’s Dream Destination — Pattaya, Chonburi

Pattaya City located on the Eastern Gulf of Thailand, famous for its lively beaches and buzzing nightlife was shot into fame as a ‘must visit’ destination since the early 1980s.

Only 147km from Bangkok or 30 minutes on our seaplane, Pattaya is the closest of Thailand’s famous beach resorts from the capital. Since then, Pattaya has grown from its sandy beaches and now offers endless possibilities when it comes to accommodation and entertainment - whether solo travelers, couples, families or for business purposes, Pattaya has something for everyone.

Pattaya’s Mega Projects‍

The development of Pattaya City and the wider region never rests. Pattaya’s airport, U-Tapao, has plans to be turned into Thailand’s 3rd main international airport, along with a high-speed rail system connecting U-Tapao and Bangkok’s two international airports by 2026.

Travel within Pattaya City is also due for a facelift with a monorail network anticipated to start construction in 2023. This estimated 26 billion baht project through Pattaya’s downtown area will ease congestion and improve connectivity between the city and its airport.

On more recent news, a 2.9 billion baht mega-revamp of the famous Cape Bali Hai area has been approved at a public hearing between the government and private sector. This major make-over will have a terminal for cruise ships, expansion of the waterfront for a second boat pier and recreational area, monorail station, and an open commercial area connecting to the existing popular Walking Street.

And of course - Siam Seaplane intends to have Pattaya as one of our key locations!

Propellers have been an integral part since the birth of aviation. The simplest kind is known as a ‘fixed pitch propeller’ meaning the blades are set at a fixed angle to either ‘fine-pitch’ for slow speeds (during takeoff, climb and approach) or ‘coarse-pitch’ for high speeds (during cruise and descent). Do you see the problem? A fixed-pitch propeller can only be efficient at certain speeds, not all speeds.

To overcome this problem came the ‘constant speed propeller’. This design allows the propeller to be efficient throughout a wider speed range by changing pitch to maintain the optimal angle of the blade through the air. A governor in the propeller’s hub maintains the optimal angle through a selected constant RPM, hence the name ‘constant speed propeller’.

Our seaplane, the Cessna Grand Caravan Ex Amphibian, is driven by this modern type of propeller.

Some of Our 2020 Highlights‍

2020 has been a challenging year for everybody due to the pandemic - testing individuals and businesses to adapt like never before.

Covid delayed the launch of Siam Seaplane, however we used this period to strengthen our team, work on our development efforts and expand our connections.

In 2020 we significantly expanded from the original co-founders in 2019 to a now strong team of 17 people, including our advisors.

In PR news, special mentions are that we were chosen as one of the top 3 companies to compete in the ‘Expara Innovation Challenge’ on travel and tourism, we partnered with FlowNation which is developing Thailand’s first indoor sky-diving centre, and we joined the Right to Play Foundation’s event to help inspire children’s future aspirations.

While working closely with the Thai Government throughout 2020, we have received support and endorsements from authorities such as Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy (ONEP) and the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT). We have also significantly expanded our resort partnerships.
